Terms of Use

These terms govern access to and use of Cabarrus County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means you accept these conditions. Do not continue to use the website if you disagree with them.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not affiliated with a local, North Carolina, or federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to help readers locate Cabarrus County and North Carolina criminal-record resources. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not store official criminal files and cannot retrieve records, perform an official check, or file a document for a visitor.

Its resources point toward custodians such as the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office, the Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Some pages also connect to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with access or degrade the site's operation
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Attempt to enter systems or data without authorization
  • Use site content for a housing, employment, credit, or insurance decision
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Violate a local, North Carolina, or federal law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate against anyone. Such conduct may also violate criminal law. North Carolina places specific lawful-use limits on information in the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. The data supports public safety awareness, not vigilantism or unlawful blacklisting and discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create background checks, credit files, or consumer reports. The site and its advertising partners do not offer products designed to evaluate applicants, insurance risk, creditworthiness, or rental requests. You may not use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Make any other decision governed by the FCRA
  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a government benefit, license, or permit
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Make an employment decision

A check for a regulated purpose must come through an authorized official process or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General descriptions of Cabarrus County records cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, or North Carolina expunction law applies to one situation. Ask a licensed North Carolina attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A search partner's result will be complete or correct
  • The pages will be free from defects or security weaknesses
  • The site will operate without interruption
  • Every item will remain accurate, complete, and current

Charges, dismissals, corrections, restrictions, and expunctions can change public records. Delays and omissions are unavoidable. No site statement is an official representation from the Cabarrus clerk, sheriff, SBI, or another public agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-resource, and outside search sites. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, prices, or availability. Their own terms apply after a visitor follows a link.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Cabarrus County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, modified, distributed, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from site use, including reliance on content found here or through a linked provider.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless against claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or a breach of these terms, including related costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms, including applicable consumer protections under G.S. 75-1.1. The North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs qualifying government records, while G.S. 114-19 addresses specified SBI criminal-history access and dissemination. A dispute connected with site use must be brought in a court located in North Carolina.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend or end access at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be adjusted only as far as needed for enforceability.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
